Dan Meagher

My Story

Dr. Meagher grew up in Davis, California, on a Thoroughbred lay-up and breeding farm. He attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, earning a Bachelor of Science degree with dual majors in Animal Science and Veterinary Science. Dr. Meagher then pursued his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at the University of California, Davis, School of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 2001.

After graduation, Dr. Meagher worked in a companion animal practice before joining a rotating hospital internship program at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. He completed a large animal surgery residency and master's degree program at The Ohio State University, becoming board-certified in large animal surgery in 2007. Following his residency, Dr. Meagher practiced in West Virginia, focusing on arthroscopy, fracture repair, upper airway, and urogenital surgery. He has published scientific papers on the novel treatment of septic synovial structures and radiographic abnormalities in Thoroughbred racehorses and their effects on performance.

 In his spare time, Dr. Meagher enjoys coaching youth soccer, skiing, golfing, hiking, and spending time with his family.
