Sarah Carter

Dr. Sarah Carter DVM, Michigan State University.

My Story

Dr. Sarah Carter grew up just outside of Columbus, Ohio, and has been passionate about animals from an early age. Her love for animals spanned from her pet dogs and cats to the goats, sheep, and cows at the county fair, and the quarter horses she rode as a teenager. She earned a BS in Zoology in 2008 and a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2012, both from Michigan State University.

Following vet school, Dr. Carter worked in mixed animal practice for four years before transitioning to primarily equine medicine. For the past seven years, she has focused mainly on equine medicine while also attending to food animals as needed. Dr. Carter enjoys working with all types of horses, from pleasure to sport and racehorses, as well as small ruminants and cattle. She has a particular interest in herd health and neonatal care.

In her free time, Dr. Carter enjoys spending time with her two dogs and cat, baking, woodworking, and drawing.
